result of natural selection, that is the gradual accumulation of advantageous traits by various populations that allowed some species to survive while those without the advantageous traits become extinct. Other factors such as genetic factors and environmental factors have also contributed to evolution, so that not only the accumulation of the best traits is responsible for change but spontaneous natural mutations and also environmental changes impacted on species forcing them to adapt to their surroundings.
