My family origins in Canada as well as the rest of North America start in the early 1950's after World War 2 and the holocaust. This was a land of freedom, which gave the image that there was no anti-Semitism and Jews and any other minority could live with no fear of persecution. This, for the most part, is what North America was. There was very much the opportunity for jobs and raising families.
