In the last four years more and more public universities are mandating that their students have health insurance before attending their first course at that particular university. Although this is becoming a growing trend for public colleges and universities, most still don't require it, although all private universities do require it. the required insurance fearing the extra cost might sway students to other colleges. This relates to teaching diverse population because a lot of minorities are struggling to get through college anyway because of cost. Some take out huge loans and others work full time while also attending college full time just to get by and adding more expenses may just push some students over the top, where they would have to drop out of school.
