to get the material for the habitat somewhere in space, because there is no way we would be able o build something like the O'Neill on Earth and send it up into space. But two things that are good about living in the O'Neill would be that the climate inside the space habitat is controlled, so there would be no rainy weather! Also, space is airless so transportation would be faster and more energy resourceful.
