The film shows Billy's strength through his struggle, and his sexuality is never brought into matter himself, it seems to be everyone else's stereotypes and assumptions in the film that are concerned for Billy. The audience's questioning of his sexuality proves more that society hasn't really changed. Sexuality isn't so overt for everyone, especially eleven year old boys, consequently questioning Billy's sexuality in the film is unattainable, and unnecessary.
