May 6, 2001 -- He was surrounded by his teammates, but yet Larry Johnson felt alone. Not part of the group. Not part of the struggle to advance deeper into the playoffs. And now, with the season over and done with, Johnson is extremely worried that he may never be a part of it ever again.
"Man, I just don't know," Johnson said yesterday on his way out the door of Purchase College.

As much as he tried to keep up the verbal motivation, Johnson was on the outside looking in the past several weeks, and it was a feeling that depressed him.
"I was just talking to the guys a while ago, don't ask me any questions about the team," Johnson said. "I was distanced from the team. To me, I didn't feel I was a part of the team during these playoffs."
