amp;gt;Single-channel GPS have 1 radio receiver, and they must step "sequentailly" through all possible satellites. This takes the longest time and degrades the acccuracy. Parallel-channel units must have 12 receivers, each dedicated to 1 satellite signal, so strong locks on the satellites can be made.
<Tab/>Today, we use Parallel-channel units so that in difficult situations their ability to lock onto satellite signals through heavy trees or skyscrpapers can still be maintained.
