ago, some huge traumatic events caused me to go into a mild depression. I did go on medications to life the physical symptoms but I continued in counseling to deal with the issues causing the depression. Now I can recognize the signs that I need to watch for so that I don't go down the same path. Thankfully, with a lot of hard work, I am not depressed any longer and no longer require medications.
