What is Gender Identity Disorder? Gender identity is one's internal sense of being male or female. Therefore, Gender Identity Disorder is an individual's ongoing discomfort about their biological sex. People with this disorder strongly identify with the sex opposite theirs. Gender Identity Disorder is difficult to diagnose and there are no known treatments other then emotional support and surgery.
