Sylvia Plath was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1932. In the 1950's she married an English poet Ted Hughes, but their marriage was an unhappy one, though both of them were highly creative. Her poems often have darker sides to them as she suffered severe depression in the latter years of her life. She committed suicide in 1963.

meadows 'glowing, as if lit from within'. To me the whole poem has the feeling of something special that will only happen once.
However once I had looked into 'mirror' in more detail it made more sense. I like the idea of being able to be totally objective 'unmisted by love of dislike' to look on things without any emotions, which she is trying to illustrate that is what the mirror is able to do.
