Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare is a comedic play. In the play characters do things that are unusual. This is most likely where the title comes from. The twelfth night was the last night of Christmas where people used to dress up as others and act out of the ordinary. In the play a female character, Olivia, dresses up as a male.
